Gear Up Maryland shows students how what they learn in their STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and math) based programs connects with the world around them.
Most Gear Up Maryland activities utilize small-group work that encourages students to work collaboratively as well as consider more than one solution or approach.
All Gear Up Maryland curricula develops student communication skills and encourages them to share ideas through: speaking, writing, drawing, and building.
Gear Up Maryland’s makerspace approach to projects challenges student to use technical analysis and inquiry. As they analyze their own data and make decisions about their projects, we see students engage in content, hone their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, and take ownership of their abilities.
